The majority of Jeremy’s cases are settled through mediation. Mediation is a nonbinding process during which the parties work with a neutral third-party mediator to resolve child-related issues such as decision-making, parenting time and child support and financial issues such as the division of marital assets and debts and maintenance.
Dissolution of marriage actions which are filed in Pitkin County and Garfield County require that the parties engage in mediation before proceeding to a Permanent Orders Hearing. Jeremy has assisted hundreds of clients to reach fair and equitable resolutions of their divorce issues through mediation.
Mediation is the most cost-effective method of resolving family law disputes. All offers and counteroffers made during mediation are confidential and cannot be used in Court. Mediation allows parties to a divorce to explore solutions to their disputes in a risk-free environment. Mediation offers the parties to a divorce action the opportunity to resolve their disputes without the stress and expense of a formal Court hearing.
In some cases, if the parties cannot resolve all of their issues through mediation, they can resolve some of their issues which will reduce the issues that would have to be presented to the Court which reduces the length of a Permanent Orders Hearing and the cost of litigation.
After practicing family law for 40 years, Jeremy strongly supports settlement through mediation as an effective dispute resolution process to help his clients avoid the stress and the cost of litigation.
